The congregation at Christ Lutheran in Newburgh is regularly involved in several different ministries that are close to our hearts. New volunteers are encouraged to reach out to these community organizations!
Baby Steps Baby Pantry
Initially organized as a faith based charity at Christ Lutheran Church in Newburgh NY in 2016, the needs of families across Orange County were quickly apparent. Baby Steps Baby Pantry reorganized with in independent Board of Directors and was recognized by the I.R.S. as a 501 (3)(C) not-for-profit organization.
This organization provides diapers and related health care products in Newburgh and eastern Orange County and Port Jervis in western Orange.
Shepherd's Kitchen
Shepherd's Kitchen is a soup kitchen located at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 271 Broadway, Newburgh, NY. We have been serving lunches to all who come to the kitchen since 1998 on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 – 1:00pm. Volunteers are always needed to prepare and serve the meals. Seafarer's International
Seafarers International House is the Lutheran response to the urgent needs of vulnerable seafarers and immigrants.
Members of our congregation knit or crochet hats and scarves for the Christmas bags which are given to sailors who come to the port of New York.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls crocheted by members of our congregation are given to persons who have experienced a death in the family and/or are suffering a long-term illness.
Walter Hoving Home
Located in Garrison, N.Y. Once a year we collect clothing appropriate for work to donate to the women at this facility.
